RIP Snowball - a tribute to her life

hello everyone,
unfortunately, i have some very sad news.
I could tell yesterday that she wasnt't well ( refusing to eat,drink,do anything other than sit with eyes shut)
but even so it was a nasty surprise to find she had died today.

Snowball played an important part in the posts of this blog, ever since she first appeared on the blog,
on 05/11/2013 ( click to go to that post ) She was a very happy little hamster and has never been bad-tempered to me or my sister, even when she didn't fancy getting her picture taken.

Snowbi had a good life and was 2 4/5 years old when she died. She was a wonderful little hamster and had a good life.

( well, it was more of an anniversary - we were never told Snowball's birthday so we celebrated it on august 16th - the day we bought her from the pet shop )















This is Snowbi, a lot older, 2 1/2 years old.

in my opinion, this is one of the best pictures I have ever taken of Snowbi.








here is Snowbi again, when she was young and lively.

One of Snowball's favourite toys was her hamster ball and she never got bored of it, even if it did look like a tangerine...












overall, Snowball's life was a happy one. She loved her life and i think thats why she lived longer than an average dwarf hamster ( average life span of dwarf hamster - 1 year - 1 yr 1/2 )

RIP Snowball - rest in peace

Snowbi's obstacle course

Hello everybody!
I am back for the now but will be away next week too.
but anyway, today i had some spare time on my hands
and what better way to use it than making an obstacle course for Snowbi?
so thats just what i did.

this is the view from above  it...

I have filmed her progress through the course below,
( for best performance and/or you cant view on mobile devices plz view on a computer)

afterwards, while  my sister handled Snowball,
I took Peanut out for a run in the grass
( because she was full of energy and was wanting to come out )
Peanut was having too much fun to talk!

A shock!

I was going to do a post tonight but I got a shock! In my cabin , where the hamsters are kept, it got so hot in there it was like an oven. I noticed Peanut and Snowball were wandering around drowsily, obviously overheating. So I took action and put them in a cooler place. They are fine now, but I reckon they need some  hours to reccover.
So for that reason, no post until later in the week.

Now, back to the blog, a traditional thing to do in Britain on Easter day is to have an easter egg hunt. Today in Scotland it was lovely and sunny, perfect weather for an easter egg hunt! So I organized an egg hunt for Peanut. Here's how she got on...

Peanuts offspring!

hi everyone,

a freind came over to my house, and she brought her hamster.
Her hamster escaped and came into contact with Peanut... and her hamster was male and Peanuts female...
you might guess what happened.

So, 16 days later, Peanut gave birth to some lovely hamster babies.

Here is a pic of Peanuts offspring ( babies )

and after taking food from my hand, heres Peanut
dissapeering into the nest to look after the babies.

Snowball has something to say to Peanut...

but along with this very happy news,
theres bad news. due to Peanut being very protective
and fussy over her babies, she wont come out of her nest at the right times.
Unfortunately this means i shall have to stop blogging as theres nothing
i can do to make peanut leave her nest without biting me.

Until her babies are grown up, there will be no more blog posts.
Sad to say this will mean that the blog will stop
for 8 weeks. ( how it takes for a hamster to get to the rehoming age . )

but before i sign off for the very last time for 8 weeks possibly more,
Peanut has something to say....

APRIL FOOL!!!

Peanuts new cage!

hi everyone,

tonights post is a long one,
with lots of pictures. Today whilst in Pets at Home,
i spotted this ' pick and mix ' large hamster cage for  £10.00 (no extras)

I had been noticing that Peanut was clearly bored of her old cage,
(she kept begging to come out even when she'd been out several times)
and it was smaller than Snowballs glass tank so no wonder Peanut was bored of it.
Anyway, i bought this new hamster cage and took it home.
below is a picture of the unassembled cage.

with a few of Peanut's toys and essentials in it.

whilst i was getting Peanut ready, Snowball
was moved into Peanut's old cage, just to
let her see if she likes it or not.
So Snowball, what's your first thoughts about your
new cage?

it isn't as big as your glass tank - but do you mind?

So Snowball, do you want to stay in your
new cage or move back to your glass tank?

Peanut goes to the winter Hamsterlympics

hi everyone!

firstly, a big appology to everyone who reads my blog,
as i have not blogged for an entire week!

in other news though, because the Winter Olympics is on TV,
Peanut has gone to the Winter Hamsterlympics!
see how she got on...
