Say hello to Magpie - Plus I restart the blog, continuing it...

Hello everyone,

I have been gone for quite some time I know, but I feel my time off blogging has benefitted both me and my pets. (Magpie is nearly tame now) So now, this is the moment you've been waiting for, it is time to welcome my new male syrian hamster onto the blog...

Say hello to Magpie, Everyone!

Magpie, why don't you introduce yourself...

have you finished now Magpie?

what is your full name then?

Thats a bit of a mouthful though, and I never called
any of my past hamsters their names followed by their
coat markings! So I will call you Magpie, Magpie because
thats what I named you!

Let me tell you about Magpie, everyone:
He loves his sleep, although is woken easily...

Sorry Magpie! Moving on...

I named him Magpie, because he is coloured like a magpie and also
he stores items, just like a magpie!
And no, its not just food, its chews, fragments of chewed things.
Speaking of food though, Magpie Loves his food.

And sometimes, Magpie can be a very silly boy indeed...

Now to explain to Magpie why he's being photographed...

now magpie, I photograph you so I can blog about you.
(I explain the concept of blogging to him)...

Well Magpie, that is understandable... You are
not an adult hamster yet, though judging from your size, you are
over 4 months old. Are you excited about blogging?

Well thats good to hear Magpie!

I will post again hopefully soon, and I guarantee there will
be a lifeofhamsterblog Christmas present special!

Bye for now, and thank you to all my loyal followers
on Google+ !

my recipe for a hamster-safe Cake

Here is my recipe
for a hamster-safe birthday 'cake':

you will need:

  • 1 tbsp Hamster muesli mix (I used Harry hamster food)
  • 2 tsp Sunflower seeds and/or Peanuts (deshelled)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • apple skin cut into a number (optional)
  • hamster-safe chocolates for decoration ( I had none at the time so i didn't use them)
  • small dish to mix it in
  • cookie cutter
  • small chopping board
1. mix the hamster food, sunflower seeds, peanuts together in the small dish.
2. mix in the honey until it completely covers the ingredients
3. press the mixture into the cookie cutter on a small chopping board
4. Now you can press in some hamster-safe chocolate and/or apple number shape if you wish.
5. place the chopping board with the 'cake' on into a fridge.
6. Chill overnight. (the more hours you leave it, the harder it sets)
7. Next day, remove from fridge when ready to serve to your hamster.
8. cut a small slice and serve to your hamster.

storage instructions: Keep the leftovers chilled.

hope your hamsters enjoy their cake!

Peanut's birthday!

Hi everyone,

Tonight is an important post because it's Peanuts birthday!

Peanut is 2 years old today, so  in hamster years,
she is middle-aged.

Here's Peanut celebrating her birthday:

Peanut, wake up! It's your birthday!

I have made you a hamster-safe cake Peanut!
I shall serve it to you.

Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday dear Peanut...
Happy birthday to you!

Happy 2nd birthday Peanut!
You can have a slice of hamster-safe cake now.

Here's Peanut tucking into her hamster-safe cake...

My Gerbils (yes, i know they're not hamsters)
were awake when Peanut was served a slice of her cake
so being party guests (in their gerbillarium) they got a slice
of hamster-cake too.

Your welcome, Peanut.
Hope you are able to celebrate a birthday next year!

Peanut will be back next post,

p.s: I will also post my

HIFA world cup!

Hi everyone,

its been a long time since i last posted but now i have a bit more time
on my hands hopefully I'll be able to blog more frequently.

but anyway, it's the world cup
and I have organised a penalty shoot-out for Peanut and Snowbi*
They will do their Penalty-shoot outs separate from each other,
so they don't fight. Snowbi* is on first,

yes Snowbi*! good luck scoring!
shoot Snowbi!

What? Snowbi! that's against the rules!
You R NOT allowed to eat the ball! red card!

Snowbi, that is not how you score a goal,
you have to steer the ball into the goal to score, not you!

ah! runaway hamster! Snowbi, you are disqualified!
you have automatically lost the match if Peanut scores a goal.
How do you feel about you losing the match?

Peanuts turn now!

she shoots....

SHE SCORES!!!! AND WHAT A GOAL!

So Peanut, how does it feel to have won?

here are the official HIFA results :
( Hamster International Football Association )
Peanut : 1  Snowball : 0 ( disqualified )

thats all this week, i'll be back next week with a new post!

* Snowbi = one of Snowball's 8 nicknames.
